BEFORE CARPET INSTALLATION
Start by removing all furniture and furnishings from the rooms receiving new carpet- and don’t forget the closets! Remove all framed pieces from the walls, and we recommend completing any new painting for the walls before carpet installation. Carpet requires a completely level subfloor and cannot be installed over existing flooring. Before carpet installation, ensure that the old floors have been removed and disposed of, and that any subfloor prep or repair has been completed. Bring the new carpet rolls into the room and let them acclimate for at least 48 hours before installation.
DURING CARPET INSTALLATION
When your installers are laying down the new carpet, you need to plan to be home to answer questions and help navigate any issues that can arise. You also need to keep kids and pets away from the rooms receiving new carpet to ensure safety. Designate an area for your crew to keep carpet installation tools that include carpet cutters, knee kickers, tack strips, and more. Whether your carpet is glued down directly to a concrete floor, glued to a carpet pad, or stretched-in to the edges of the room, your installers will recommend the best carpet installation method for your style and home.
AFTER CARPET INSTALLATION
Once the carpet is installed successfully, it is actually ready to receive light foot traffic without footwear to help press the carpet down and fix it to the floor. Now is the time to ask your installers any questions you may have, and check that your doors still have full range of motion with the new flooring height. We recommend waiting at least 24-48 hours before bringing in heavy furniture on the new carpet to avoid creating permanent indentations. When vacuuming new carpet, you will witness sprouting, shading, and remove loose fibers which is completely normal for the first few months.
After your successful carpet installation, now it’s time to develop the care routine that will help you keep your new rooms looking spectacular. From regular vacuuming to spill and stain treatment, it’s all about taking the proper steps with your soft surfaces. Our carpet experts have all the best tips and practices for you to follow:
