Laminate INSTALLATION In Tulsa and Joplin

At Johnson Floor & Home, we love installation day: Now that you have selected the laminate styles that will bring durability and protection to your rooms, it’s time to prepare for new floors. Learn more about laminate installation from our experts!

Before Laminate Installation

Start by removing all furniture and furnishings from the rooms receiving new laminate- and don’t forget the closets! Remove all framed pieces from the walls, and we recommend completing any new painting for the walls before hardwood installation. Since many laminate products offer floating floor capability, you may not have to work on the subfloor and actually install them over existing flooring. If you are glueing down your laminate, ensure that the old floors have been removed and disposed of, and that any subfloor prep or repair has been completed. Bring the new laminate planks into the room and let them acclimate for at least 48 hours before installation.

DURING Laminate INSTALLATION

When your installers are laying down the new laminate, you need to plan to be home to answer questions and help navigate any issues that can arise. You also need to keep kids and pets away from the rooms receiving new laminate to ensure safety. Designate an area for your crew to keep laminate installation tools that include saws, hammers, utility knife, pull bar, and more. Since laminate planks are less expensive to purchase and repair if needed, you can decide whether you want to attempt a DIY installation or hire professional installers to ensure that your new laminate floors are installed correctly.

AFTER Laminate INSTALLATION

Once the new laminate is installed successfully, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours for your floors to set and cure before they can receive light foot traffic without footwear and activity from pets. If your laminate floors are installed using click and lock technology, they are ready for foot traffic the same day! Now is the time to ask your installers any questions you may have, and check that your doors still have full range of motion with the new flooring height. Wait at least 48-72 hours before bringing in furniture on the new laminate, use felt protectors under furniture legs, and always lift heavy pieces instead of pushing them across the surface.

Laminate CARE

After your successful laminate installation, now it’s time to develop the easy care routine that will help you keep your new rooms looking spectacular. From regular sweeping to spill and stain treatment, it’s all about taking the proper steps with your new surfaces. Our laminate experts have all the best practices to follow:
