Laminate CARE & MAINTENANCE

We don’t just sell flooring products at Johnson Floor & Home; we strive to help our customers, families, and homeowners protect their flooring investments and enjoy their dream homes for decades. With these best laminate care and maintenance practices, you can keep your floors looking attractive while spending less time cleaning!

DAILY Laminate MAINTENANCE

Laminate floors offer excellent durability in an active home, and these preventative steps are the best way to maintain them around the clock. Sweeping and dust mopping as frequently as possible will always be the key first step. Use mats at all entranceways and consider having residents and guests remove footwear by the door. Add area rugs with the appropriate backing for laminate floors throughout the home as another line of defense. Even though laminate is a great pet-friendly option, make sure to keep all pet nails and claws trim to avoid scratching the surface, brush your cats and dogs regularly to reduce pet dander, and use mats under food and water bowls.

Laminate Spills & Stains

In an active home, spills and spots will eventually land on your floors but laminate is exceptionally easy to keep clean! When they occur, simply wipe them up with paper towels or a clean cloth. You don't need harsh cleaners to remove dried stains, just use a gentle hard surface cleaner in the area for spot treatment. Most laminate floors are engineered with enough moisture protection that will allow you to wet-mop whenever you prefer! In this case, try to only use as much water as needed, use a gentle cleaning solution, and dry your floor afterward. If needed, verify with your laminate manufacturer's warranty that you can use touch-up kits as needed.

Laminate DIRT & DEBRIS

When it comes to caring for your laminate, it's always a good practice to remove loose dirt, dust, and debris regularly. By sweeping, dust-mopping, or vacuuming your laminate floors several times a week, you are removing particles from the surface, thus preventing any abrasion or scratches. In addition to sweeping with a soft bristle broom, dust-mopping your floor with a microfiber cloth or dust mop is the best regular practice. To vacuum your laminate floors, make sure your model has no rotating brushes. You will truly love how easy it is to care for your tough, durable laminate floors!
